Background

Ready to Launch Research collaborated with a national nonprofit cancer support organization on a three-year initiative to develop an educational resource for CAR T-cell therapy patients and their caregivers. The goal was to address the growing need for accessible, trustworthy information in oncology treatment and to improve patient-provider communication through nonprofit health education materials.

Methodology

This oncology market research project was executed in four phases. In Phase 1, we conducted qualitative interviews with oncologists and clinical staff at CAR T treatment centers to assess patient needs and pain points. Phase 2 included interviews with patients and caregivers to explore logistical challenges, treatment side effects, and emotional burdens. In Phase 3, an online discussion board was used to test visual and content mockups of the booklet, gathering real-time feedback on design, clarity, and usability. Phase 4 involved mailing physical copies of the draft booklet to participants and collecting final insights through an online community.

Impact

Findings from all phases directly informed the tone, structure, and visuals of the final Frankly Speaking About Cancer: CAR T treatment guide. By incorporating patient and caregiver voices, the resource became an accessible and comprehensive tool distributed via Cancer Support Community affiliates and online. This nonprofit research initiative set a benchmark for inclusive, patient-driven oncology education.
